Background

Arshid is a Director on Grant Thornton Cayman Islands' Asset Management team. He is responsible for the delivery of audit and other assurance services to clients in the financial services sector. Arshid has over 20 years of assurance experience in the financial services sector, the last 15 years of which have been in the Cayman Islands serving a variety of wealth and asset management clients. These span from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar complexes, including alternative investment fund managers, hedge funds, private equity funds, multi-jurisdictional fund structures, trust companies, large commercial banks, and fund administrators.

Experience

Arshid joined Grant Thornton as an Audit Director in 2023. He began his career in a Big-4 accounting firm in Karachi and then Oman, before moving to a Big-4 accounting firm in the Cayman where he managed a portfolio of financial services client, including hedge funds, private equity funds, banks and fund administrators based in North America, Europe and the Middle East. 

Industry experience

Arshid has extensive assurance experience in the financial services industry. He has a deep understanding of auditing offshore funds, onshore vehicles, multi-jurisdictional fund structures and hedge and private equity funds from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar complexes. Arshid has vast experience in different fund structures, global accounting frame works and regulatory requirements applicable to funds.

  • Member and licensed practitioner of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA)
  • Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants, Pakistan
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering specialist, Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS)
