Grant Thornton expands into the Bahamian market; adds esteemed Nassau accountant John Bain as local Managing Partner

Bahamas to benefit from 25,000-strong group delivering cross-border accounting, tax and advisory services

Nassau, Bahamas, 7 April, 2026 — Grant Thornton (Cayman) LLP has expanded its footprint into The Bahamas, where it will operate as Grant Thornton Attest (Bahamas) Ltd.

To enable the expansion, Nassau-based accountant John S. Bain has been named as the managing partner of Grant Thornton Bahamas. Bain, who was previously the head of Nassau-firm JSB Global Solutions, is regarded as one of The Bahamas’ leading forensic accountants, insolvency practitioners and financial investigators.

Grant Thornton Bahamas combines Bain’s years of proven experience with Grant Thornton Cayman’s industry know-how solving complex challenges for major companies operating across the Caribbean region and in the broader offshore financial services industry.

As an extension of Grant Thornton’s Cayman firm, Grant Thornton Bahamas is part of the multinational platform established in 2025 by US-based Grant Thornton Advisors LLC (Grant Thornton Advisors). Since launching the platform, Grant Thornton Advisors has expanded it to consist of 17 firms, including Grant Thornton Cayman, which joined the platform almost one year ago as only the second firm to do so.

The Grant Thornton Advisors platform currently spans the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region — and includes Grant Thornton firms in the US, Belgium, Brazil, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands, Denmark, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland/Liechtenstein, and the United Arab Emirates. It also includes Auxis, a leader in outsourcing and business modernization, and Stax, a specialist in commercial due diligence and value creation.

Together, these firms form an almost 25,000 professional multinational group delivering cross-border solutions powered by advanced technologies, a shared commitment to quality and a growing reputation as the industry’s employer-of-choice.

Bain will work with the managing partner of Grant Thornton Cayman, Dara Keogh, who will ensure that Bahamian clients benefit from the full breadth and depth of the Grant Thornton Advisors platform.

“We’re bringing something unprecedented to professional services in the Bahamas: multinational scale combined with agility, focus and exceptional client service at a local level,” said Keogh. “Clients need insights and assurance in areas of growing importance — from AI enabled decision making to compliance and cybersecurity. They’re looking for firms that can move quickly and simplify complexity, not add to it. That’s exactly what they’ll find in Grant Thornton Bahamas. I am grateful to John for bringing his incredibly impressive range of credentials, proven skills and experience to our firm and our clients.”

Bain emphasizes the evolving needs of Bahamian businesses: “Organizations in The Bahamas are evolving rapidly. They are becoming more global, their risk environments are more complex, and the technology they rely on is advancing. Grant Thornton Bahamas is well positioned to meet that moment — combining the strength of nearly 25,000 professionals with leading edge technology, innovative services and a people focused culture. I thank Dara and his team for their confidence and partnership on this important milestone.”

Grant Thornton Cayman is part of the Grant Thornton International Limited network, which provides access to its member firms with 80,000 people in more than 150 global markets.
