Jasmine Wong

Jasmine is a manager in Grant Thornton’s Specialist Services (‘GTSS’) practice in the Cayman Islands and has 9 years insolvency and asset tracing experience, including 4 years in the BVI. Jasmine manages a portfolio of court-supervised liquidations, voluntary liquidations and receiverships across the Caribbean and specialises in working on large, urgent and complex cross-border cases which often include elements of fraud or financial management. 

Jasmine is a qualified accountant and has recently completed her INSOL foundation qualification.

Relevant Experience 

  • Managing the official liquidation of a Cayman company from which US$270 million in net assets, intended for charitable purposes, were transferred away prior to appointment. Investigating the asset dissipation and launching injunctions as well as claims to for breach of fiduciary duty and misfeasance against former directors.  
  • Managing the official liquidation of a Cayman company with over US$4.5 million in assets. Liaising with Cayman counsel to resolve complex claim adjudication involving director indemnity claims and navigating inter-creditor disputes. 
  • Involved with the day-to-day activities of the liquidation of Stanford International Bank - a large Antiguan Bank and US$8 billion fraud scheme. Managed over US$133 million in distributions from the estate.  
  • Day-to-day management of a provisional liquidation of an NYSE listed company with over US$1.5 billion in assets and allegations of over $600m being dissipated prior to the appointment. This involved dealing with assets and litigation in Hong Kong, the PRC, Singapore and the British Virgin Islands. 
  • Coordination of complex cross-border asset realisations of Saad Investments Company Limited - a long-running Cayman Court liquidation. Management of financial reporting of the liquidation, which has recovered US$1.1 billion to date. Assistance with distributions which have culminated in US$726 million to date.  
  • Managed the liquidation of a BVI SPV and coordinating the successful asset realization of over US$7 million for the estate. This involved forensic analysis and engaging with BVI, English, Swiss and Dutch counsel to resolve complex claim adjudication issues.
