Background

Dr. John S. Bain is the Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Bahamas. 

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a Fellow of The Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Fellow of INSOL International. His professional qualifications include CFE, CISA, CMA, MAFF, DABFA, and FINSOL designations.

Dr. Bain holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in Computers and Information Security from Northcentral University, along with an MBA and Graduate Certificate in Finance from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He has also completed executive and post-doctoral studies at Cambridge University, Columbia University, MIT, and the Wharton School.

In addition to his professional practice, Dr. Bain lectures in Accounting, Advanced Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems at the University of The Bahamas and has presented internationally on financial crime, cyber risk, and forensic accounting.

Experience

With more than three decades of experience in accounting, financial services, forensic investigations, and insolvency, Dr. Bain is recognized as one of The Bahamas' leading forensic accounting and restructuring professionals.

He regularly serves as an expert witness, court-appointed receiver, liquidator, and financial investigator in matters before the Supreme Court of The Bahamas. His work spans fraud investigations, corporate disputes, business valuations, asset tracing, litigation support, cyber-related financial investigations, and insolvency engagements.

Prior to establishing JSB Global Solutions, Dr. Bain held senior leadership positions including:

  • Senior Vice President, Administration and Finance, National Bank of Canada International
  • Manager, Internal Audit, Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC)
  • Manager, Planning and Control, Lloyds Bank & Trust (Bahamas) Ltd.
  • Ernst & Young

    Dr. Bain previously served on the International Assembly of ACCA, representing The Bahamas, the Caribbean, and the Americas, and is the recipient of ACCA's Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2019, he was inducted into the University of The Bahamas Hall of Fame as Alumnus of the Year.
