Background
Sameer Jhamb is a Senior Manager in Grant Thornton Cayman LLP’s Asset Management practice, with over 10 years of experience in investment funds audit, financial reporting and complex valuations. He works with global asset managers and investment funds, with experience leading cross-border engagements and multidisciplinary teams across the Cayman Islands, North America, EMEA and APAC.
Experience
Sameer has extensive experience leading end-to-end audits of investment funds under IFRS and US GAAP, from planning through completion and issuance. His experience includes managing complex and multi-jurisdictional engagements, overseeing audit teams, reviewing complex valuations and significant accounting judgments, and working closely with fund controllers, CFOs and other key stakeholders.
He also has experience in client relationship management, business development, engagement quality and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Sameer held senior roles with EY, KPMG and Deloitte, gaining experience across Cayman and India and working with global delivery teams.
Industry Experience
Sameer’s experience covers a broad range of investment fund structures and asset classes, including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, fund of funds, mutual funds and digital assets. He has particular expertise in Level 2 and Level 3 valuations, including private credit, distressed debt, unlisted equity, private investments, bankruptcy claims, structured products and other complex financial instruments.
His experience also includes investment fund regulatory and compliance requirements relating to CIMA, AIFMD and SEC-regulated entities, as well as exposure to DIFC and ADGM fund structures through cross-border engagements.
